Shade Tree Commission

(Wed Nov 29, 2023)

The Shade Tree Commission is comprised of up to nine appointed residents who serve as the custodians of Closter's shade trees.  Commissioners work with municipal employees, residents and business owners to maintain the health and diversity of the Borough's public tree resources, including the planting, pruning, removal and protection of all shade trees.

The Commission meets on the second Monday of every month at 8:00 PM (except August).

Commission Members & Contact Information

Every year, when the leaves begin to turn, the Shade Tree Commission asks residents to share a personal photo capturing the spectacular colors of the season in our hometown. The winner of the contest receives a street tree planted in their neighborhood. Congratulations to Monica Souza and to all the residents who submitted entries this year!
