Alarms The Closter Police Department maintains an extensive residential and commercial alarm file. These alarms include burglar, fire, medical, panic and hold-up. Borough ordinance 65-4 requires "any individual, corporation or firm operating or maintaining any alarm device must obtain a valid permit on an annual basis. Permit registrations must include the names and telephone numbers of two emergency contacts. All permits shall expire on December 31st in the year issued and shall not be valid after said date. Renewal applications must be filed with the Police Department on or before February 1 in each year and shall be accompanied by an annual fee payable to the Borough of Closter.
